Community response unit

In the wake of the earthquake that devastated Kaikoura in 2016, our quick response helped rebuild a highway.

Staff removing a container from a truck

Possibly the best example of our ability to provide refueling solutions was in the wake of the earthquake that devastated the Kaikoura region in 2016. We quickly developed containerised tanks fitted with diesel powered generators, card readers, tank gauging equipment and satellite communications technology.

The first of these 30,000L capacity tanks was transported to Owiki Bay for NCTIR (the North Canterbury Transport Infrastructure Recovery) team, who coordinated a joint response involving a number of civil contractors working hard to clear slips and rebuild the highway. We delivered diesel to this tank from the Nelson Fuel Terminal, as SH1 was closed south of Kaikoura.
