Community Response Unit 1 has Landed!

The first of our Community Response Unit tanks has recently been transported onto site at Okiwi Bay. This site, 30km north of Kaikoura, is on the earthquake damaged section of State Highway 1.

We will be delivering diesel to this tank from the Nelson Fuel Terminal due to SH1 being closed to the South of Kaikoura.

The fuel is being supplied to the NCTIR (North Canterbury Transport Infrastructure Recovery) team, who are coordinating a joint response involving a number of civil contractors who are working to clear slips and rebuild the Highway.

The fuel usage from the tank is already high, and as more contractors are engaged in the road rebuilding projects, demand is likely to grow as a result.

Being a company based long term in Christchurch, who understand the effect mother nature can have, we wanted to invest in additional capacity so we are able to be better positioned to assist in the event of a crisis.
