The HWR Group (of which Allied Petroleum is a member subsidiary) has made the decision to take part in an energy efficiency programme in conjunction with the EECA (the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority). EECA’s Heavy Vehicle Fuel Efficiency programme aims to improve the fuel efficiency of heavy vehicle fleets through advice, support and funding assistance. This represents an important opportunity for HWR to reduce fuel burn, increase savings, improve safety and reduce the impact on our environment. Most heavy vehicle fleets can cut fuel costs by at least 10% through maintenance, driver training and improved fleet management – and this is the target we have set ourselves. The HWR programme will include:
- Development, implementation and maintenance of both driver safety and health and wellness programmes.
- Provision of regular driver training through SAFED (Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving) with feedback opportunities.
- Recognition and a driver incentive/reward scheme.
Personal benefits for drivers will include:
- Reduced stress levels and enhanced satisfaction in driving.
- Increased confidence in vehicle control and driving performance.
- Increased personal safety.
This programme is closely aligned with our mission to create a safe and positive environment with trained, motivated and empowered people, and as such is a key initiative for HWR.
