Fuel Efficiency Partnership

December, 2014

The HWR Group (of which Allied Petroleum is a member subsidiary) has made the decision to take part in an energy efficiency programme in conjunction with the EECA (the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority).  EECA’s Heavy Vehicle Fuel Efficiency programme aims to improve the fuel efficiency of heavy vehicle fleets through advice, support and funding assistance. This represents an important opportunity for HWR to reduce fuel burn, increase savings, improve safety and reduce the impact on our environment. Most heavy vehicle fleets can cut fuel costs by at least 10% through maintenance, driver training and improved fleet management – and this is the target we have set ourselves. The HWR programme will include:

  • Development, implementation and maintenance of both driver safety and health and wellness programmes.
  • Provision of regular driver training through SAFED (Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving) with feedback opportunities.
  • Recognition and a driver incentive/reward scheme.

Personal benefits for drivers will include:

  • Reduced stress levels and enhanced satisfaction in driving.
  • Increased confidence in vehicle control and driving performance.
  • Increased personal safety.

This programme is closely aligned with our mission to create a safe and positive environment with trained, motivated and empowered people, and as such is a key initiative for HWR. New Allied Truck Stop in Invercargill

December, 2014

Allied Petroleum has expanded its fuel stop network again, this time opening
a purpose built truck stop in Invercargill.
Located at 101 Bond Street, the site operates 24 hours and seven days a
week. The location offers excellent access for large vehicles, also with
enough area to allow queuing off the road.
The truck stop is equipped with three high flow nozzles allowing faster filling of
truck running tanks.  Importantly it also retails ‘Alliedblue’, a diesel exhaust
fluid, for those customers operating SCR engines within their fleet.
Heavy vehicle fleet operators can also use a variety of payment options
including Mobilcard, Allied’s ‘Fuel Plus’ card, and Fleetcard.
Finally the fuel stop also caters for utes and other light vehicles running on
diesel; there’s an additional low flow nozzle and the unmanned facility also
accepts credit cards and eftpos.
“Allied Petroleum is part of the Invercargill based HWR Group, so it’s great to
make an investment that will serve to support the Southland transport sector”
says General Manager Alastair Tennent.
Allied Petroleum has a number of other new to network locations under
construction, so look out for further announcements in the near future.

Bell Block Motors on TV3’s ‘Campbell Live’

December, 2014

Congratulations to our good customer Bell Block Motors, who welcomed a TV3 film crew onto their forecourt recently. This week’s resulting ‘Campbell Live’ article was fantastic endorsement for their local service station business, and the great in-shop team. The handling of costly petrol station ‘drive offs’ has been topical in the media over recent days, and the manner in which owner Chrissy Snowdon handled questions about the issue was admirable, and very supportive of her staff. You can watch the news clip below (just after the small ad).
