November, 2014

Allied Petroleum has expanded its fuel stop network after opening a purpose built truck stop in Taupo.

Located at 220 Rakaunui Road, the facility is conveniently positioned just off the SH1 Taupo bypass.

Operating 24 hours, seven days a week, the site offers excellent access for large vehicles, also with enough area to allow queuing off the road.

The truck stop is equipped with three high flow nozzles (one at 80 litres per minute, the other two at 160 litres per minute) for pumping diesel. It also retails ‘Alliedblue’ – a diesel exhaust fluid for SCR engines.

Finally commercial operators can use a variety of payment options including Mobilcard, Allied’s ‘Fuel Plus’ card, and Fleetcard. The unmanned facility also accepts credit cards and eftpos.

Allied Petroleum has a number of other new to network locations under construction at present, so look out for further announcements in the near future.

OBC helps ‘Make-A-Wish’

November, 2014

OBC

The day to day operations of the Auckland Orakei Marina’s Marine Fuel Stop is managed by the Outboard Boating Club (OBC), with Allied Petroleum ensuring ongoing bulk fuel delivery. Our businesses have a good long term association and the fuel stop (which consists of two fuel pumps and a 95 Petrol dispenser) offers convenient refuelling for boaties before heading out on the water.

Recently the OBC organised, in conjunction with their annual ‘Nauti Girls’ Ladies Fishing Competition, a fund raising initiative for the Make-A-Wish Charity. The proceeds from the event were significant, and meant that Make-A-Wish could grant a wish to Tauranga based teenager (Dayne) who has leukaemia. Dayne’s wish was to have his very own dinghy and a trailer, and he’ll be presented with these along with fishing gear and life jackets in December when he turns fifteen. He’ll also be able to share some time with fishing personality Matt Watson who’ll be making a guest appearance at the presentation.

Virtually Picton to Bluff!

November, 2014

By day fuel suppliers, by night calorie busters. This month 26 employees from Allied Petroleum will participate in a virtual walk down the length of the South Island during November. The journey has been dubbed “The Southern Ramble” and commences on the 3rd November (virtually) in Picton and finishing four weeks later in Bluff.

This annual event serves as a reminder to everyone that we can lessen the longer term risk of ‘lifestyle diseases’ by maintaining an active day now. The simple act of counting steps, through the use of a pedometer, and setting a goal can be really motivating. The daily step goal for each employee is 10,000 and the team that crosses the Bluff finish line first will receive a fit for summer prize pack and, of course, bragging rights!

Look out for more updates on the Southern Ramble in November as we track the progress of each Team’s virtual adventure.

November, 2014

Other diesel distributors may have wanted him, but Mike Russell chose Allied Petroleum. And we’re thrilled to have him on board as our sales team’s Coastal Otago Territory Manager!

Central-Otago-Territory-Manager-Mike-Russell

Mike joined us in late September and after only weeks in the job he is full of enthusiasm, and loving the job! Based in Dunedin, Mike came to us from a pallet racking storage solutions business – where he was an experienced sales representative. He made the decision to make the switch after learning that the Territory Manager’s role offered more day to day responsibility, and he liked the career advancement opportunities that can be found in a group like HWR. Mike’s role involves maintaining and developing strong relationships with our customers based from Coastal Otago through to the South Canterbury.

Mike is married with two children, he is passionate about rugby and plays for the Demon’s Rugby Club in Dunedin. Also a DIY enthusiast Mike enjoys delving into a bit of DIY and is currently renovating an old 1910’s cottage in Dunedin. If you’re in Coastal Otago and want to talk bulk fuel delivery, give Mike a call!
